melbourne : East Melbourne Accommodation

East Melbourne is located a very short 2 kilometres from the busy shopping precincts of the Melbourne CBD. It is the home of that icon of Australian sport, the Melbourne Cricket Ground. East Melbourne was originally home to some of Melbourne’s wealthiest first settlers and it still is an up market suburb. East Melbourne has within it a large number of the older historic buildings of the inner city. The original Parliament and government buildings dwell in the suburb and there is a number of very old and historic churches and chapels, including St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
