The leafy suburb of Elsternwick is approximately 9km South East of the hustle and bustle of inner city Melbourne. Elsternwick truly is a haven of peaceful and quiet near city living. Elsternwick shares a border with St Kilda, so yes, Elsternwick is peaceful, yet it is a mere 2 minutes from the one of the busiest areas on the bay, St Kilda. Seemingly at odds with the leafy and peaceful vibe of Elsternwick is the fact that the suburb is home to perhaps the most well known, famous (or infamous), brothel in the world – The Daily Planet. Interestingly as well, it was the first such business to become a public company with shares traded on the Stock Exchange.
Our apartments in Elsternwick
Glenhuntly Road in Elsternwick has a range of really great places to eat. Notably Budapest Restaurant and Palinka Bar has really wonderful Hungarian cuisine. We have heard the Hortobagyi Chicken Crepes are to die for. Also Kotaraya for authentic Chinese, Thai and Malaysian food is rated at 94% by MenuFeast with consistently great reviews.
After you have indulged in the culinary delights of Glenhuntly Road, continue on down and cross Marine Parade and find Moran Reserve. Moran Reserve is a great place for a stroll and to take in the beauty of Port Phillip Bay – and to walk off the after dinner cake and coffee.
Amazing to think that when staying in one of our luxury apartments in Elsternwick that you are really only about a 15 minute drive from the centre of Melbourne. A little longer by tram. There is something quite wonderful about a tram ride to the city, however, and it really is something everyone should do when staying in Melbourne.
