About Surry Hills
Surry Hills is located 1 km south east of the Sydney CBD. The western side is an area centred on wholesale business and is the hub of Sydney’s busy textile and fashion industry.
Crown Street is the area to go to if you are looking for cafes, restaurants and homewares stores. Bentley Bar and Grill on Crown Street serves up some great food as does Four Ate Five also on Crown. They are doing exceptional food, great juices and single origin coffee with a memorable pulled pork sandwich that the locals keep coming back for.
Bordering Darlinghurst on Oxford Street, is Oxford Square shopping centre if shopping is you pleasure. And if markets are what you love then on the first Saturday of the month at the Shannon Reserve on the corner of Crown and Collins Street is a great little local market great for some serious vintage finds.
Central railway station is just that, the hub of the CityRail network, on the western edge of Surry Hills. The network services all of the city and surrounds. Buses run through there to all areas of the city and major roads run through Surry Hills. Belvoir Street Theatre one of Australia’s leading Theatre Companies, is located in Surry hills and showcases our leading actors, directors, playwrights and designers. The Brett Whiteley Studio Former work place and home of this amazing artist has an exhibition of his private collection, (weekends only) on Raper Street.
Object Gallery a world of modern design on Bourke Street and Ann Snell Gallery specialising in Modern Aboriginal Art is on Albion Street. Surry Hills has so much to offer while visiting all close by in this inner city suburb.
