About Watsons Bay
Being at the entrance of the harbour is was a strategic place in WW11 with relics and history around the attack in 1942 from Japanese submarines attempting to enter our Harbour. During this period Nielson park was used as an anti-aircraft base.
St Peter’s Church, Old South Head Road, built in 1864 is just one of the many historic churches and schools in the old part of Sydney that is well worth a look.
Watsons Bay is Well known for Doyles Resturant and is a great destination for an a la carte seafood meal or for more casual eating is the takeaway lunch from Doyles fish and chip Shop. There are amazing views of the Sydney Harbour with city in the distance from this location.
Watsons Bay Tea Gardens and Cafe on Marine Parade is kid friendly and comes recommended as does the Eastern Bay Thai on Military Road.
You can take several walks from the wharf, north past Lady Bay or to South Head to see the Hornsby Lighthouse. Take some time to walk south past The Gap to see the Signal Station and Macquarie Lighthouse.
